Sheila Mary's Story

My name is Sheila Mary. I am 60 years old.

About 4 years ago I was a normal person. I had a job as a teacher. I could play tennis, cycle, do yoga, cross country ski and skate on the canal.

Now I am so tired and sick all the time. About all I do is meet a friend at a restaurant to have lunch and chat. My husband buys all the groceries. I do not have the strength to push the cart around the store. I have been to soooooooooooooo many doctors. Eventually they will no longer see me as a patient as they do not know what is wrong with me. I am Cushingoid, with a huge stomach. I have grown from a size 4 waist to a size 16 in a couple of months. I have a regular size face with no fat cheeks. I feel that I have intermittent Cushing's. When I have these hot sweats my stomach rises out and becomes very hard with red dots on the skin. When the hot flush goes away my stomach relaxes and the red dots disappear as well. My cortisol is high in the morning and goes even higher in the afternoon.

Last night for the first time ever I was able to have my blood drawn at midnight at a hospital to see what my cortisol levels are at this time. I am hoping that this will be the test for me to capture the interest of some doctor.

Maybe someone out there will read my story and be able to help me.
