Kim R's Story...

Hi I am a 36 year old mother of 3 children. I began having trouble really after my 2nd son was born 14 years ago.

I began to have a rash on my hands that would never go away. All this time I would go to dermatologist and they would give me cream that might work for a few days.

In January of 1999 I had a Bell's Palsy on the left side of my face which sent me to see a neurologist. He ran some tests and said I had a fibromyalgia but didn't know where it was coming from and then he disappeared and so I just suffered the pain until recently.

In March of this past year I developed a MRSA staph infection from a boil under my right arm. I was in the hospital 11 days. I got out of the hospital still not feeling good but tried to continue normally.

At the end of May I went in to have an overnight repair of an abdominal hernia which again I developed the same Staph infection. In hospital 18 days this time. Came home weak and very very tired. Went to My obgyn for routine and he ran a cortisol level check. Mine was Negative .4. Normal is suppose to be between 5 and 29 and so he ran it again. Same reading. Sent me back to my regular physician and that is when she sent me to the endocrinologist.

He ordered same tests twice both times coming back negatively. I have all the symptoms of Cushing's except for the low cortisol level. I have gained 48 pounds in the last 4 months. I have a very round moon face and the hump on the back. Terrible acne under my chin facial hair, on my chest and very bad mood swings. My feet and ankles swell so bad sometimes i can not even get my shoes and socks off. They hurt terribly and my back kills me. I just wanted to post this to see if anyone out there has ever heard of anything like this with the low levels. The one endo I went to has thrown his hands up and is sending me to a specialist in Dallas and I go there on the 30 of this month.

I would appreciated anything anyone has to tell me. Thank you!
