Brandi's Story

My frustrating journey began in July 2002. On the 4th I became violently ill, having chills, fever, vomiting, etc. Then I developed a weird rash that still comes and goes. I always say that I have not felt good for one full day since that episode.

I have had mysterious rashes all over my body, gained over 100 lbs, developed skin tags, high cholesterol, weight gain mainly around my abdomen. I am constant and persistent pain. I am always exhausted no matter how much I sleep and I feel like I'm constantly in a "fog."

I have been to about 11 doctors, finding now answer to my problems. I continue to gain weight and/or am unable to loose the weight with moderate exercise, and eating less than 1,000 calories a day. I went to a dietician and was told to eat at least 1500 calories a day. When I tried that, I literally gained 10 lbs in a week. I'm at the point where I have given up on exercising and the hope of ever finding an answer.

The endo I saw told me, "you are fat and you need to move to Manhatton so you can walk all the time." To think I actually paid him money for this sage advice!

I have finally convinced my internist to run a urine free cortisol and a dexamathesone suppression test. I will be completing them this weekend. I have many other symptoms, etc, but I just wanted to get posted for now.

I have read and reread the various bios so many times and I feel like I'm looking in a mirror. I finally took the time to join. I really could use some support.
