Patient Comments:
The Radisson Beverly Hills is close and great there is also the La Park hotel which is about $40.00 bucks more but a huge room and the service is great.
~~
The Beverly Hilton does round trip (free) also
I stayed at the Beverly Plaza just 4 blocks from Cedars-Sinai. There were tremendous restaurants in the area and a 4 story shopping mall (Beverly Mall).
I enjoyed this hotel. The rate was $140, but reduced to $130 if you are a patient at Cedars. Also they were incredibly support of my 24-hr urine testing by clearing the mini-bar refrigerator for me.
It's a boutique hotel. I asked what that was and it is a European-style hotel---small and cozy. I recommend it!
Beverly Plaza. It is a small hotel but I loved it. There is a refrigerator in the room and the hotel was great about cleaning out the mini-bar and letting me use it for medical testing (you know, those UFCs).
It was $130 per night if you are a patient at Cedars. The hospital was about 4 blocks --- an easy walk or taxis are also available. There are restaurants galore in that area and a great shopping mall (Beverly Plaza). The hotel didn't have a restaurant, but a great little restaurant across the street delivered to the rooms. They also have internet access and a good work space.
The La Parc will give you free transportation there and back. (they say only drop off but the captain of the bellboys will work very hard to get you round trip) They are so great. The Le Parc is closer but about $20.00 to $40.00 bucks more a night. They have HUGE rooms!
I stayed in Beverly Hills at the Residence INN, Marriott and it had a kitchenette and they were very nice and helpful. Mon through Thurs. there is free breakfast and light dinners served and they give taxi vouchers for getting you to and from the appointments.
The room I got was $129/night, with a kitchen, studio discount rate if you tell them you're a patient of Dr. Friedman's. They ended up moving me and my friend to a one room with a full kitchen so I had a room with a door for my naps and my friend could be in the living room. They had a sauna, work out room and smack in the middle of Beverly Hills. They didn't charge me extra for the larger one either. They are very accommodating and I recommend it. You can bring stuff back to the room for lunches from the breakfast buffet, bagels, cream cheese. So meals are basically included. We went to a nearby deli and there was a Safeway my friend went and got some fresh fruit so we saved bigtime.
The Hotel Sofitel is only about 2 blocks from his office. It is also right across from the Beverly Center.

Just a note for the confused - Ronald Reagan and National Airport are the same thing. The official name is Reagan now, but most people still call it National after all these years.
Reagan/National is right on the metro line and that stops right outside NIH and, across the street, Bethesda Naval
BWI is on some kind of train system with DC but I think you'd have to do some transferring from an Amtrak to the Metro to get to NIH
Dulles plans to be on the metro system at some point in the future but isn't yet.
From the Metrorail (subway)
Metrorail service is available from Washington's National Airport and from Union Station (railway). Take Metro's Red Line to the Medical Center Station. The station's escalators come out onto the NIH campus. To get to the Clinical Center (Building 10), take the NIH campus shuttle bus which provides service to the Clinical Center (Building 10) and stops at the Metro station every 15 to 20 minutes, OR walk from the top of the escalators past the bus stops down South Drive. Keep straight and cross over Center Drive. Continue to walk straight up the hill. The NIH Clinical Center (Building 10) is at the top of the hill on the right.

Also, contact Mayo Clinic and request information about accommodations, etc.... and you will get a packet full of info. And most of the hotels have a shuttle service to and from the Clinic throughout the day. Also, since the atmosphere is a hurry up and wait type of thing, there are some stores to walk through and shop, or window shop in and a couple of movie theaters nearby to spend some down time at.
