And It's About Time There Was Some Support For Cushing's!
I have been having multiple troubles for years. I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, IBS, Migrains, High Blood pressure, TMJ, and too many other things to remember!!! Most of the time I just felt like I was a hypocondriac. The doctors just kept giving me more and more pills, but the problems never stopped.
Then in March of 2005, I was taken to the hospital with severe stomach and back pain. The doctor thought it was a kidney stone, so they performed a CT. Sure enough it was a stone, but they also found a small mass on the right adrenal gland. I was admitted to the hospital to take care of the stone, so they decided to do a 24 hour urine collection while I was there. They didnt explain much about the mass or the tests they performed, just that it wasnt what they expected. I was released 3 days later and the mass not discussed again.
At this point I was retaining fluids baddly, and my weight gain was getting out of control. I was going to the doctor every other week for one thing or another. I mentioned the mass to my doc, but she said it was nothing and prescribed yet another pill.
I happened to read an article about cushings and all the symptems where me exactly. I also had that mass that was nothing. My doc didnt seem to care about what was going on, so I took matters into my own hands. I looked up Endo's that my insurance company accepted and found one in my area. They got me in within a week and performed a ct within two.
I did the 24 hour collection again, and the dex suppression and that confirmed my self diagnosis. I had surgury on March 23, 2006. So far, I have lost 15 of the 70lbs I have gained.
