Hormone Function/Effect

Growth Hormone (GH)

Growth of cells, fat metabolism, improved mood, increased energy levels.

Antidiuretic Hormone (ADH, vasopressin)

Controls water reabsorption from the kidneys, and salt balance.

Adrenocorticotrophic Hormone (ACTH)

Stimulates the adrenal glands to produce cortisone

Oxytocin

Induces milk movement, and uterine contractions.

Thyrotropin (TSH)

Stimulates the Thyroid gland to produce Thyroxine.

Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)

Men - stimulates the testes to produce sperm; Women - stimulates egg formation in the ovaries.

Luteinising Hormone (LH)

Men - stimulates the testes to produce Testosterone; Women - Ovulation.

Prolactin (PRL)

Stimulates milk production
