Mark's Story...

I live in a very rural area in central Arkansas. The nearest Doctors are 20 miles away in a town with only a "county" hospital. The nearest specialized help is a 1 and 1/2 hour drive away.

I am 50 years old. Over the past 5 - 6 years I have been faced with a constantly expanding list of health issues including surgeries in the dozens (a case of bacterial spinal meningitis from one of these) and rapidly deteriorating physical and mental health in general.

A recent CT Scan for an unrelated diagnosis revealed a mass on my left adrenal gland which was decided to be an adenoma. Based on my medical histories, which include years and years of NSAIDS for degenerative disc and joint diseases, and laundry list of symptoms I've been given a preliminary diagnosis of Cushing's Disease.

I had never thought it possible to be so sick and as I have for the past 5 months and live through it. And while I am a Born Again Christian and a Baptist Minister I am having trouble coping with this disease both physically and spiritually. Thank God I've found this site and the message boards!! Part of getting or feeling better is just in UNDERSTANDING. I hope to find part of that understanding here.
