And It's About Time There Was Some Support For Cushing's!
I am a 32 year old recovering Cushing's individual who had the right adrenal gland removed May 5th 2003. Presently on steriod medication for replacement of cortisol.
Well, My story begins like this, at 31 I started to get pelvic fractures and a lot of weight gain. My whole life I have been a thin girl. I then stop having a period which really threw me off. I was gaining weight by the minute.
Finally one of my relatives took me to UCLA and as soon as Dr. Grossman took one look at me she knew right away that I had Cushings of course at that time I had never heard of it. I then was recommended to see a endocrinologist (Dr. Cohan) UCLA med. ctr. I had suffered with this for a year and a half before I knew anything.
I had a tumor growth the size a golf ball in my right adrenal gland which was completely removed. I've been in recovery since May of last year. but my body is still going through a lot of changes.
I hope someday I will be able to become a public speaker and help others to cope with this rare and uncommon syndrome.
