Launa's Story

When I was 17 years old, i began to have irregular periods, belly weight gain, and hair growth on my face. Of course I was told to loose weight, that was causing the missed periods and the lack of periods was causing increase in testosterone, which caused the hair to grow.

Placed on hormone therapy at 18 and and extreme dieting, i lost weight, notin my belly or face however.

Fast forward 4 years, I gave bitrh to a beautiful baby girl. 3 months later, I had my gallbladder removed. Afterwards, I began to experience fatigue. Thinking being a new mom, working, and running a home was the culprit, I dismissed it.

Almost a year and a half later, i had gained 40lbs, in my torso and face, irregular periods, and facia hair growth increase (ughh) I went to the Dr. and had a complete physical, thinking I had hypothyroidism, but I was only borderline. They discovered I had high cholesterol and my blince October I have experienced increasing weakness, fatigue, and no relief in sight.

A week ago I went to the local emergency room with extremely severe pain on the right side of my back. After test after test after test, I was told I had a kidney infection and a laceration on the adrenal gland on my right kidney due to the severity of the infection.

2am the next morning I was bac at the ER. A different Dr. re-examined the x-rays and ct scan and had some alarming news for me. "You have a tumor" HUH??? I had a 1 1/2 cm tumor in the adrenal gland on my right kidney. He told me the symptoms that this would cause. The abdominal weight, the acne, facial hair, and fatigue. He asked me if I had had those symptoms and if so how long, I told him for several years. He told me he couldn't diagnose me with it and couldn't do anything further in the ER, but he believed I had cushings and needed to see and Endocrineologist and get an MRI. Thank GOD!!! Answers!!!

I have been doing some research and have found that Cushing's caused by an adrenal tumor occurs only about 20% of the time. I am thankful that I now have an answer and can treat what has been ailing me and so may others for years.

God does answer prayers.
