Kim's Story

Hi my name is Kim I am 47 years old and have full blown Cushings symptoms. I am an asthmatic and have been all my life.

Six years ago I began to have asthma problems after a bout with pnemonia. I was energetic, working 50-60 hours a week as a restaurant manager wearing a size 3.

After the pnemonia, things began to change, asthma attacks were becoming more frequent along with hospitalizations. Which introduced high doses of steriods into my life. I didnt realize the intensity off the steroids on my body until recently.

In october I was diagnosed with ABPA (Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis) a lung condition treated only by ...yes more steriods. I have been on prednisone for 5 months now as well as 2 hospitalizations. I look back at the years of hospitalizations and stertoid therepy resulting in increasing depression, inability to function concentrate steady weight gain for no aparent reason.

I now have topped the 200 pound mark, I can only walk short distances before the pain in my muscles is intolerable. The symptoms I have are too numerous to list. I am fighting along with my doctors for diability until I can someday feel normal again.

But I seems noone understands Cushings or noone cares. I wish someone could understand but who ever heard of ABPA or Cushings syndrome, people think its all in my head and you know what sometimes it is.
