Joyce's Story

I began having problems after the birth of my sixth child in 1992.

I was being treated for all the Cushing symptoms separately and it was not until the podiatrist said I should go see an endo because of all the problems I was having.

When the doctor at Vanderbilt took one look at me he said that I had Cushing's which was proven out during testing.

My Cushing's was being caused by an ectopic tumor which has remained hidden from all types of testing the last three years.

After all the years of not knowing what I had and all the health problems I decided to have my adrenal glands removed. The surgery was performed May 22, 2003 and am going through a rough post-op. I don't think I was prepared well for how bad I would feel after the surgery. I have extreme fatigue, nausea and indigestion, blurred vision, shortness of breath and am dizzy when I first stand up or try to move around.

My endo says that some of the symptoms are related to the withdrawal and some are not. I have also gone through a major depression a year ago and am hoping that I can find some comfort at this site.

I will be visiting the message boards and chats and look forward to the help.
