Jenni's Story...

First off, I have to say I am very glad this website it here. I have found so much information that has really helped me out.

After reading other's stories I feel like one of the "lucky" ones.

I was having some complications with my pregnancy with my third child in fall of 2003. They told me he wasn't growing and the fluid levels around him were to low. They monitored him weekly. Then at 35 weeks he decided it was time to come into the world. He is doing great now. After he was born in January 2004 I really started to put on the weight, especially in my face, and my legs hurt so bad. I chalked it up to baby fat and lack of exercise. I went to my doctor a few time for other reasons and kept telling her my concerns about my weight and pains in my legs and asked her why my face was so puffy. She tested my thyroid first and tested me for Cusing's second. I was diagnosed with Cushing's by the end of summer 2003. After more testing they found a tumor on my right adrenal gland. I had a right adrenalectomy in November 2004.

I have had quite a few ups and downs on this medication. I am very thankful for my primary doctor and especially for her nurse who are so compassionate when I call then sobbing.

I have been feeling pretty good these last two weeks (about 2 1/2 mo. post op) but still trying to get the other adrenal glad to wake up. I have lost 17 pounds since the beginning of December and somewhat have my face back. That makes me feel so much better. I actually don't cry now when I look in the mirror.

I still have a ways to go I think but I am learning to take one day at a time, put my trust in God and thank my family everyday for their support.
