Elle's Story...

I went to the doctor in November 2004 and was put on Lipitor and Synthroid. I was allergic to Lipitor and was put on ZOcor and then Crestor-again I was allergic. The Synthroid made me feel good for about 2 weeks. I lost 10 pounds.

Then I started to get blinding headaches. I had trouble breathing (Asthma. I was diagnosed as pre-daibetic. I went and got a stress test and a treadmill. I passed. I still had heart palpitations. I was sent to an obesity clinic and within 2 minutes of meeting the doctor I was put on an anti-depressant that also helped with weight loss. It was called Meridia.

I felt sick all the time now. My heart raced at night. I was constantly tired and have had trouble with weight that would not come off despite exercising. I run 75 miles per month. I am 5 foot 3 inches and 184 pounds. Even on the strictist diet I can only lose minimal amounts despite my dedication. FInally I got my thyroid checked. My T4 levels are high. My cholesterol is high. My blood sugar is high. My liver enzymes are high and my cortisol levels are high. I have a buffalo hump and my face is puffy.

I took in pictures to my doctor and she did not recognize the pictures as me. She agree to let me have a cortisol test. The blood test came back high so I did a 24 hour urine test on the 27th. I took the results to the lab today. I have a doctor appointment on the 30th of March and hopefully the doctor will make a definate diagnosis.

I hope I can have support from this website. I am hoping to get well again. I am tired of being sick. I am not sure what my GP thinks. She was hesitant about the cortisol test but did it anyway and then phoned me immediately when the levels were too high. Anyway, the journey begins....
