And It's About Time There Was Some Support For Cushing's!

I am part of an organization of people who are afflicted with or have been treated for a rare endocrine disorder, Cushing's Syndrome - an all encompassing term capturing all forms of this disease including adrenal, pituitary, steroid use, ectopic, or pseudo. This disease causes the body to produce too much cortisol, a stress hormone made by the adrenal glands. Many of those suffering from Cushing's Syndrome are misdiagnosed or go undiagnosed for years before receiving the correct testing and treatment.
Left untreated, this disease results in death due to all body systems being adversely affected by the elevated cortisol levels. The disease is often misdiagnosed as many of the symptoms are shared with other, milder diseases.
Our organization hopes that by having a special day set aside for Cushing's, we can raise an awareness in the public and medical community thereby saving lives. We've already saved many lives by having a dedicated website listing common Cushing's symptoms, doctors familiar with the disease, and answering the many questions surrounding this complicated disease.
Please support our efforts by setting aside April 8th, the birth date of Neurosurgeon Dr. Harvey Cushing who discovered this illness, as Cushing's Syndrome Awareness Day.
