Courtney's Story...

Hi! My name is Courtney F and I'm 34 years old. I've lived in Colorado all of my life.

I first found out I have Cushing's Syndrome in December of last year. I had had obvious symptoms for about eight months prior prior to that (extremely high blood pressure, uncontrollable weight gain, facial hair, moon-face, sweating, hair loss...). I'm having a double adrenectomy on Wednesday (3/29/2006).

They're going to remove them both by laproscopy, which they've never done before, so I'm a little nervous about that. Also, I have a rare heart arrhythmic disorder and I have a cardiac defibrillator, which they have to shut off during the surgery. So, wish me luck!

I think it's really great that there's a website for us, as this is a rare disease, and it effects us so much deeper than the physical damage it causes us. It's nice to know we're not alone. God bless you.
