Anonymous Male's Story

For many years I would come home with burses that I didn't know how or where I had got. My wife used to complain that I had a chemical smell. In the early 1980's I started getting backaches around my kidneys, and kidney and bladder infections. Doctors recommendations were from, take a hot bath and a hot toddy, to antibiotics and back surgery, which I didn't do, thank god. The infections were treatable but reoccurred needing more antibiotics. Ten years ago I noticed I seam to sweat more often and have an intolerance to heat, I operate and maintain a large boiler operation.

My blood pressure started to get high but I was only seeing A doctor when I needed antibiotics or in an emergency.

Over the last few years people have said I have got more moody and intolerant. My memory, which used to be extremely good just isn't the same, my doctor says its just age but I don't believe that.

I only sleep sometimes 2 hours a night lying there watching the hours go by waiting to go to work.

I started putting on weight, I've never had a weight problem or been on a diet until now, and Im 54.

A year or so ago I started feeling tired and fatigued, a nurse had checked my blood pressure and told me it was outrageous I should see a doctor about it, my urine had a peculiar smell I usually got just before I got an infection. The doctor I usually went to had told me he wouldn't give me any more antibiotics until he ran some tests to find out why I was getting these infections which he said were very rare in men.

I started seeing other doctors and was told over work, stress, poor diet, and lack of sleep, age, and worry. I was fine my tests came back fine. I was put on blood pressure medication and increased 4 times. I kept putting on weight my face started swelling up and getting fatter the fatigue got to the point all I can do is make it to work most days. My emotional and mental state is not good most mornings I have diarrhea I should buy stock in Tums.

I went back to the doctor I had been seeing for years on the 7th of January this year, he took blood and had me pee in a bottle and said to come back in 2 weeks. On the 22nd he said he thought I had Cushings disease and he needed to do more tests. After a cat scan blood tests more pee in a bottle and a MRI he diagnosed me with a tumor on my pituitary and Cushings on 1-29-04.
