Anonymous 2's Story

Well - its been a long road and I finally - after 9 months of testing have been given a diagnosis. I've been told that I have cyclical cushing caused by a pituitary tumor. I have 3 more tests to go..one to just rule out an ectopic source - actually have the Lung MRI today. The CRH test tomorrow and bone density next week. I'm going to Mass General Hospital in Boston and have already been presented to Conference - of which they all (the rest of the dr's) have concurred with my endo's diagnosis. I believe I have had this for a long long time...at least 7 years. So many different symptoms (weight, viral infections, mono, pnemonia, acne, hair growth in all the wrong places..I could go on). Seems that my doctors just never put it all together (a common issue with most cushies). Back in Oct 2003 I started to get migranes and went to the doctor. While I was there I talked about my weight..since I was completly frustrated..(I was gaining 3-4 pounds a week while on weight watchers).

Finally I think my doctor believed me and he sent me for a head MRI - they found a pituitary adenoma and so the journey began..I realize now that the diagnosis is the easy part and that this will be a long road..BUT I try to keep a positive attitude and take each day at a time. Its not easy..especially on the bad days..the joint pain and fatique is awful.
